It's my junior year of highschool soon. I used to have contacts when I was a freshman but not anymore because one of my eyes turned red. My eye doc told me to go back to glasses for a while because my eyes were too dry for contacts. I had an appt with him recently and he asked me if i was interested in contacts again. I said no only because my parents won't let me. Why? Well 1: "My eyes are too dry" (even though the eye doctor said i can try them again), 2: my parents are convinced that I didn't clean then properly (which is probably true i'll admit but i've learned my lesson) & 3: both of my parents shudder to think about me sticking something in my eyes (i try to exlain its no big deal). I thought bringing up that when i drive i'll have blind spots where i won't be able to see would help my case but so far its not enough to convince them. How can i get them to know that i'm more responsible now to wear them again and that i will do all i can to clean them properly!?!?!

  1. Many advancements in contact lenses are made yearly. I also have problem with eye dryness; however, there are now lenses available that help with dryness (e.g. Proclear, Acuvue Hydraclear, and more). You can use this fact to your advantage.

You are right about glasses compared to contacts-- contacts are better for peripheral vision.

Also let them know that you will practice better hygiene this time around! :-) "Sticking something in your eyes" is no big deal, especially if it helps you to see better and if you take good care of the contacts!
