I am very serious about this and somehow can not communicate this to them.

I am a very high-stressed person. I have ADHD and OCD. I think it would be better if i was homeschooled because of these issues. School is SO stressful and i can't bare it anymore. I'v missed so many days of school because i was "sick" aka anxiety. I dont know what to do. Its all catching up on me. I would MUCH rather do it all at home. I CAN self motivate myself also. Im in NO way doing this thinking i can just relax. I know the stresses that come with this, and how hard it is. I really want to be homeschooled. How can i stress this to my parents?

  1. Well if you have what you say you have then you have a thearpist.  See if you can get your therapist on your side.

You see if they'll go for it on a one semester basis and if your grades are there have it continue.

You also need to get out or you'll end up agoraphobic.

What fun is life if you can't spend money at Fashion Bug and try one clothes with a girl friend or two and then walk the mall in your new outfit!

Tell them and show them some research. Your health has to come first.

  3. Many districts have a continuation school which would allow you to work mainly at home with minimal attendance at a special school site.  You should look at your district website and look for alternative high schools or continuation high schools.

  4. go 2 skool so u can make friends!

  5. Try telling them you'll be able to teach yourself how to spell (it's persuade) if you're at home, lol!

Seriously, I'm always amazed that any other kid reckons we can tell them how to get their parents to do something when we don't know their parents from Adam, have never met them, have no idea what they think or believe or what the parents' priorities and own experiences are!!!

They're your parents, presumably you've been living with them for x years and therefore have a much greater understanding of them and the ways in which their minds work than I do!!!

All I can suggest is that you do your research (read books about home education, look at websites, check out journals and articles etc, find your local homeschooling groups and get in touch with people there); talk to your parents when things are calm and unhurried; don't kick off, chuck any sort of tantrum or yell at them that it's all unfair, you hate them and that they're ruining your life if they say "No"; instead try and find out why they're saying "No", what their concerns and worries are and then find the research etc to reassure them or get them to meet some other homeschooling parents etc etc.

Oh and maybe decide if you want to go with proper homeschooling (where you and your parents put together your programme etc yourselves with no outside help except perhaps from your local librarian) OR if you'd do better going with distance education (cyber-school, correspondence lessons etc). If you or your circumstances are better suited to distance education, you could maybe investigate what's available to you wherever you live.

You might also try talking to your GP if your reason for wanting to leave school is that you have OCD, ADHD etc. What does he/she reckon? If you could get your doc onside, you'd probably have heaps better chance at persuading your parents to follow and climb on board with the idea too!

  6. okay sit you parents down after dinner or during and tell them about your need for homeschooling just how you did in your question. explain why you think it is a good idea and if they dont think it is a good idea or dont want to have to do the work of it all, meet them halfway and suggest independent study. it uses curriculum that the school provides and may be easier without the stress. good luck i hope you find a this helpful to help you work it out.
