I would like to imitate winter and spring conditions to get my goldfish to breed. How can I cool the tank down safely without risk of temperature shock?

  1. The only way that I'm able to cool down my goldfish tank is by doing water changes, I put in water that is slightly colder and it cools them down. My bedroom [where they are kept] gets pretty warm if the sun is allowed to come through the window and it heats up their water enough to make them a little uncomfortable. I do water changes and it works but I'm not sure about long term cooling. They DO make things like heaters for goldfish to keep the water cold but they run very expensive.

  2. I put a couple of icecubes in the filter.

  3. u can use a fan over the top of the water surface also keep doing regular water changes  that will also help keep cooler temp for them i had mine in a tank but they never breed at all put them in my pond now they wont stop good luck with yours
