How can I copy videos from Sony DCR-HC42E's MiniDV to my Computer?

I have the Sony Handycam DCR-HC42E, and am currently unable to copy files from the Camera to my Hard Disc. I concluded that the Drivers are not compatible with Windows Vista, which I have, and Vista say so as well. Is there any way to make it, and pass the video on my computer?

Thanks in Advance!

  1. Add a firewire400 port to your computer and use the DV port from the camera connected via firewire cable to the firewire port you just added. Cheap to do. USB will not work.

Firewire400, IEEE1394a and i.Link are all the same thing. Get the firewire port working on the computer and you don't need any camera-specific drivers.
