How can I cover a metal teacher desk with fabric?

My desk looks awful I cant paint it because school has started. Any ideas on how I cover it so it dont look so bad.

try upholstery material and cut maybe 6 extra inches on the sides...gather elastic

I suggest using sheet magnets.

Use spray adhesive to apply the fabric or buy adhesive backed magnetic sheets.

You could also try covering a tackboard with fabric and using magnets to attach to the desk.
