How can I create a concrete sign?

Hi! I'm trying to create a concrete sign for a community organization. Examples of concrete signs:

Problem is, I'm not really great at this stuff. Can anyone tell me how to get started. I already have a location to construct this on (the base is present). I'm figuring I'd need to use bricks to create the frame around the sign. Would I need metal supports or something in the inside. Also, I have no idea on how to create the sign itself. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thank you very much.

  1. This is a specialist project. You would need to make the framework in steel or timber, with plenty of bracing around the outside. It should be made in such a way that, when the concrete has set, the framing can be easily removed. The lettering or design must me made mirror reverse in the bottom of the frame. All surfaces should be heavily coated with a releasing agent to stop the concrete from sticking. Galvanised mesh steel should be positioned to be in the centre of the thickness. A very high strength, small aggregate concrete should be used, and a method of compacting it into the mould. The side of the frame should be removed when the concrete has set enough to support itself, then the panel should cure for about 7 days before lifting it off the base The panel should then be supported to allow circulation all round for a further 21 days. During the whole period of  curing the panel should be kept cool and  constantly moist

  2. Instead of going through lot of work using concrete to make a sign buy a cement board from a store like Home Depot. It is water proof and all you need to do is to paint the background then put the message on top when the background paint dries.
