Question:

How can I cure my betta?

My betta stopped eating about a month ago. He had what I thought was fin rot. I was advised to give him some Betta; no change. I was then told to give him some Maracyn TC, he has had 2 full treatments and looks worse. He has swim bladder issues but today he is just lying either at the top or bottom of the tank and then if you get close he swims very fast, knocking his rocks around. I have been changing his water about every 2-3 days, except when on the biotic because I needed them to run for the duration. He lives in a 1 gallon tank on my desk at work. I put a1/4 tbsp of aquarium salt into his water along with the treatment drops and let that sit for about 48 hours prior to changing the water. I don't want him to suffer (he is about a year old), but I don't know what else to do.

  1. How are you going about treating with Maracyn TC?  This is powder, so you'd have to dissolve it in a specific amount of water and dose only a tenth the amount of water.  If you used the whole packet, the fish is probably suffering from a massive overdose, which will soon affect its kidneys.  I would stop dosing imediately and do a large water change.  If you dosed correctly, I would let him be: things generally get a bit worse before they get better.  I would, however, make sure you keep the tank dark, as tetracycling (Maracyn TC) degrades with exposure to light, making it more toxic!

  2. i had a betta once

when you clean his tank and you use tap water you need to put

water treatment tablets in it (it is to treat the water for betta ,s only .you can find this a twal mart just tell them you need some tablets to treat your betta,s water when you change it .all so use bottle water it is better for them

now the bettas i had they slept ether on the bottom of the water or the top ha mine were lazzy all so all ways make sure you clean the rocks really good and i never heard of aquarium salt in with a betta .

trying and see what i say works oops one more thing the pet store told me beta ,s don,t like betta food  he was right i fed mine gold fish flakes and  fish dried worms  try this bet he like it

    good luck with your fish
