Question:

How can I cut down on soda?

I heard on the radio the other day that if you drink too much soda (about one can a day) you're 85% more likely to get type 2 diabetes than people who don't drink soda so often.

Well, I LOVE soda. But I don't want diabetes. And it's not the sugar or caffeine, it's the bubbles that I love so much. I've tried carbonated water, but it's not the same :(

So, how can I cut down on soda? To hopefully only drinking it at restaurants and parties?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I had to cut down on soda too, so I tried to find a substitute so I won't be tempted to come back to soda. I recommend Newman's Own Lightly Sparkling Fruit Juices. In my opinion they are very addicting, but aren't as bad as soda.

  2. try a healthy alternative of Carbonated beverage like Koumbacha.  It tastes funny, but it is what your body actually craves when it wants soda. Our Ancient ancestors used to drink it. IT does soooooo much benifits for your body. :)

  3. I have bad news for you. If you like soda, there is no way you can keep yourself from drinking it. It is very much like marijuana. Once you start taking it, you can't stop. So instead, go to the store buy three twelve packs of soda and drink them all in one sitting. You will get so sick that you will no longer desire soda-ever! It all has to do with the psychological processing in your brain. Good luck!

  4. I'm not saying to many sweets and caffeine are good for you.

But I will say if you listen to every report, you'll end up in an asylum.

    I read reports all day.

seems like everything is no good for you these days.

Now soy( always considered one of the healthier food) is getting bad reports.

    It's always something.

I already resolved myself to the fact that life's a number and when your number is called, bye-bye.

About the soda and sugar etc etc.

    I live on sugar.

I eat more sugar then 5 people people combined.

I've been doing it for more years then you would believe( close to 50 years).

No diabetes, my blood pressure is perfect.

    I have no ailments.

When I go to the doctor he says if he just saw my charts and had to guess my age he'd say 20-25 years old.

So what does it all mean?

Some people who don't eat much sugar end up with diabetes sometimes and vice versa.

If it's in your nature to get it, your going to get it.

    If it's not---you won't.

  5. Just dont buy any pop/soda home and only buy water.

  6. Just get diet soda, it cuts down on the calories and has no sugar... also if you don't get coke it doesn't have caffeine. but has the bubbles!

  7. I don't buy it, and i'll try to drink a little for weekend if i go to movies or when we go out to dinner and when i do drink it only on weekends. Dentist told me to keep it away from the kids too its bad for the teeth and gums.

  8. yeah its hard to give up pop cuz i did...i have 2 worry about diabetes ...i just started to drink juice....when you want your favorite pop or just want pop just tell yourself no you don't need it and powerade Gatorade, water that's flavored fruit punch..its not that bad
