How can I deal with driving in the dark?

I just started driving with my provisional license a couple weeks ago.

Now that I have a job, I'm working late at night. I HATE driving at night.

What bothers me the most is when people have their high beams on and don't shut them off when I'm coming towards them, they blind me. I ALWAYS shut mine off when oncoming traffic appears, they don't have the respect to shut theirs off.

How can I continue driving safely when Im blinded by high beams? Whats your technique? How can I prevent losing control?

  1. i just give a slight honk at them maybe they just forget there on

  2. When you see a car with high beams coming up towards you, look to the bottom right side of the road and concentrate on following it and using it to lead you. And if you can, try flashing your headlights at the on-coming car with the high beams to tell him to turn it off and switch to low beam.

  3. Always look straight and never look near or into the beams.. When I'm driving in that situation I focus on the road and lane that I'm driving on and I can easily tune out other lights.. Otherwise just flash your lights to signal the discomfort and other drivers will understand or final option which I wouldn't recommend turn on ur high beams.

  4. This doesn't make sense, really.  There's nobody that I meet on the road that doesn't dim their lights. Never.  Are you sure they're brighting you?

If somebody forgets to dim their lights, you just go back to bright on yours.  If you are MISTAKEN about the status of their lights, they will let you know.
