Question:

How can I decorate on a budget?

Some friends and I are renting a house this year, and being a poor college student, my room is going to be pretty blah. All my furniture is mismatched and beat up. So far I only have two posters, an antique lamp, and some nick knacks to decorate. I need some ideas for cheap decorating so my room doesn't depress me so much.

  1. when re-decorating home, bedroom or any other room, always try to choose colors according to feng shui. in this case you will activate powers of 5 elements (water, earth, metal, wood and fire) and support all your lucky "areas" - this will attract love, romance, wealth, money, prosperity, luck etc etc

    good luck!

  2. have a look on your local gumtree.com they got free stuff on there something might catch you'r fancy.  or go to ikea nice stuff there and cheap.  or local charity shop u be suprised.

  3. Time to shop at the Salvation Army or Goodwill stores. HIt some second hand stores, or a place like Big Lots,  I'm sure you will find something to suit your tastes.

As to the old beat up stuff, But some sandpaper, if they are wood, and a can of stain or paint. to refresh them.

Hit the library too, for books on decorating on a budget. There are a lot of them around.

  4. PAINT!!  Find sample cans at your local hardware store and give your old furniture a face-lift.  Shop at thrift stores for great deals on accessories.  You can find prints and paintings of all sizes for a couple of bucks and you can use the frames to frame your posters.

Head to the local discount fabric store and buy a couple of yards of cheap but nice fabric and swag them over your windows for a "shabby-chic" look.

Its amazing what you can do on a very small budget and the fun you can have doing it - just be prepared to put a bit of elbow grease and imagination into it!!

    Best of luck.
