I don't want to decorate it with stickers, or anything. I was thinking more along the lines of drawing a house, and cutting out windows and such =]

If you have ideas, please post.

  1. Here are some things I would suggest:

~I suggest painting and drawing on the outsides. This will make it more eye pleaseing for you and won't really effect the hamster at all.

~ Use colored paper to creat "rooms and tape them on the "back"(the part facing the wall) and sides so that it will look like it has a house!

~Putting a border around the top, lid, and edges, then changing it to a different color after cleaning the cage.

~Drawing polka dots and stripes with washable markers. This way you can wipe it off and do it again to change it to your liking. It will also be translucent.

~ You could of course draw the house. I would suggest using screen instead of chicken wire though. This is because screen has such small holes your hamster to squeez through and is hard to chew. Its also cheap. If you do choose to use chicken wire make sure to make the windows big enought so that there is a purpose to using the chicken wire. I wouldn't suggest this for Robos. Syrians chicken wire should be fine as long as it has small holes between the wires.

    I hope these suggestions help!!

    Good luck!!

  2. No windows. Hamsters will escape. But you can draw on the outside.

  3. How small of chicken wire are you using?  Have you thought about using hardware cloth? It comes with smaller openings, and you can get some that's coated so that urine and water won't degrade it over time.

    You could paint maybe?
