How can I delete a folder that refuses to be deleted?

Well, about a couple of years ago, my computer was crashed and pretty much the entire HDD was wiped out, or so I had tought. While using an application known as "FolderSizes v4.5.0" (http://www.foldersizes.com/), it showed me that the folder "C:\USERDATA" is filling up 42.15% of my 160Gb HDD, wtf? This is the stuff I tought I had lost but somehow ended up here.

Bottomline is, I pretty much ran out of all the space on my HDD and need to delete it no matter what. Please help me find a way on how to free all of this space...

  1. with fireworks

  2. just uninstall that stupid software ....

user data may be a system folder and so don't delete it ya ....

  3. CAUTION: UserData is usually a folder that resides in your user profile and may be required to successfully boot your computer.

    However, if you insist:

    1. Enter Safe-Mode, to ensure software / services for FolderSizes are not running.

    2. Then reset the file privileges for the folder by right-clicking on it - select Sharing and Security - from the Security tab, select Advanced.

    3. From the "Owner" tab, select your account, select "Replace owner on subcontainers" and press APPLY.

    3. Select the "Permissions" tab and de-select "Inherit from parent..." and then select REMOVE (to ensure no DENY privileges remain).

    4. Click on Add, enter  EVERYONE in the object name box and select OK.

    5. From the privileges list select "Full Control" and select OK

    6. Select the option "REPLACE permission entries..." and press OK.

This may take some time to reset the file privileges if the folder contains a large number of files; but when it is done you should be able to DELETE the entire folder contents.

    Good luck

  4. try to uninstall the program , if that dont work you might have to formatt you hard drive, if the program is giving you trouble
