I own a 2000 Chysler Town and Country All-Wheel-Drive Limited. I don not have a tow package, but would like to add one in order to pull a 19' travel trailer.

  1. Depends how much your trailer weighs.  Most likely no you cant tow something that heavy with your minivan.

    Standard towing - 2,000 lbs

Max towing (tow pkg) - 3,500 lbs

  2. You can purchase a tow package for the Town and country for use with a small utility trailer. The word is small! The van isn't meant to pull big or heavy stuff. The all wheel drive means the rear axle drive goes through a vicous coupling and is not a direct rear wheel drive. Power is only applies to the rear wheels if the front wheels are spinning. Pulling a trailer with all wheel drive under normal conditions will not utilize the rear wheels. They are allways activated, but not in full power. It's Like a viscous powered radiator fan.

  3. Without the factory tow package (2000lbs max); not a chance.

Even with the factory tow package (3500lbs max); it is marginal at best.

Searching Google for 19' travel trailer weight provides examples ranging from ~2800lbs (EMPTY) to well over 4500lbs.

  4. depends on the weight of the trailer, fully loaded, and the tow pack you choose to put on the car. They come in many different weight pulling abilities. Speak to whoever you intend to get the toowpack from

  5. Check your owner's manual for the towing capacity of your T&C. It should be about 3500 lbs. maximum. Obviously you need to know the weight of the trailer too. It cannot be over 3500 lbs.
