Can she start taking child support out of my check if she is not sure who the father is?

Based on what I've been told, if you signed papers in the hospital acknowledging paternity then she may be able to get child support.  You will need to petition the court for a paternity test to cancel the order.  I'm not sure if they will hold on the ruling until the results come back.  As far as the location of the test, that will depend on the court and who files the petition.  You may want to look into that.

Most states use lab services to determine paternity.  If you call the courthouse, I'm sure they'll work with you to find a lab in your area to take the sample.  You'll probably have to use a lab they pick, but I doubt they'll make you travel cross country to get your cheek swabbed.

Did you sign the birth certificate?  Then thats considered acknowledgement of paternity and she could take out child support.  But if you did not, they will do a court-ordered DNA test before any child support is taken.

go to the court house and get a court ordered paternity test...

then worry about child support after you find out if the baby is yours

you usually have to go to court for child support as well...she cant just determine the amount she wants and then just have it taken out. when she orders for child support...you chime in about not thinking you are the father

from what i have heard..if the baby turns out not to be yours..she pays for the dna test...if it is..you pay

but u need to start there before you go anywhere else.

I dont know...but you need to find out...go to ur docs....or u will be paying for a kid that might not be urs.

They cannot take money out of your check unless you signed the birth certificate.

If she does try to go after you for child support, you will need to take a paternity test at the court and prove that you are or aren't the father.

even if you signed the certificate the state has to identify you as the father with a paternity test. If you acknowledge the child is yours then the state wont reccoment one then you will have to go to the court with the state to establish paternity then the child support will be paid by the state. She has no power to take your money without your knowing. The state will contact you and the courts before any of that happens.
