How can I determine the geographical location of an IP address?

I have an IP addreess and I need to know where it is located (country, city, and what place in the city).

  2. Unless the IP you are wanting to locate is an ISP or a business with allocated IP's from ICAN you won't get anything except maybe city and state (and then only sometimes!)

    I just checked mine with all the above links and NONE of them has me in Texas which is where I am, and I have a STATIC public IP!  Let me correct that, one did put me in Texas, just a city 60 miles away!  The first link above put me in NY!

    So without a court order and the ISP who owns the IP.. you can only get close not the exact address.

The above answers are technically correct, but they will not tell you what you want to know.   My IP for example resolves to Elizabeth NJ, which is about 30 miles from where my computer is physically located.  My office firewall is in NY State, but the IP location resolves to Dallas Tx. Only the ISP knows the actual endppoint location, but  without evidence of a crime, the ISP will not reveal any information about who used the IP at the time in question.
