How can I determine the precise time I was born, my mother can't remember?

Sadly enough, my birth certificate has absolutely no mention of the time of day(or night) that I was born.

Strange, I know, but dreadfully true.

  1. It might be on your Birth Certificate depending on your country of birth but also any hospital records she may have kept.

  2. Yes, it should be listed on your birth certificate. If you don't have yours, request one (there will be a fee) from the county clerk in the county where you were born. It would also be in your chart from the doctor or midwife, if there was one.

I'm not sure why it would matter though. Both of my children's exact birth times were made up anyway. They were correct within about 5 minutes, but by no means precise. With the first one, the nurse (after doing some other things) said to the other nurse who was writing on my chart, "Time of birth ... uh ... three forty ... two," as she guessed based on the fact that it was now about 3:45. With my second birth, the midwive asked my husband. "Would you say she came out about 10 minutes ago? OK, time of birth 12 a.m." In both cases, they were busy taking care of me and the baby, which were far more important than being precise with the time.

  3. find your birth certificate, it will tell you

  4. I"d check with the hospital you were born at. I'm sure there's a record of it somewhere. If not try the health department were you were born that have to have it in there vital records. Good Luck!!

  5. it's on your birth certificate

  6. it might be on your birth certificate

  7. it would probally be in the hospital records from your birth......why does it matter?

  8. Yes, it will be in your medical notes, I think that perhaps your mother was fairly busy at the time, but the midwife will have noticed.
