  1. Punching and kicking power are usually are usually built by punching and kicking.  If you have access to a heavy bag and kick bag at your gym, these two items will end up close friends.  Use them.  It's not so much your muscle as it is your ability to use what you have and work off it.

Bags provide feedback into what we are doing right and wrong.  If you feel your wrist bending, straighten it out.  Use the bag to practice " "spine like an axle, waist like a wheel", granted it sounds like fortune cookie c**p, but it is darn good advice, your power should come up through your feet, you hand merely an extension of the body.  Head light just means keep you chin slightly tucked in, not parked against your throat.

When you practice kicking, practice kicking through the target, use your shins like a good MT kicker should, when you can kick through the bag, with a good solid push kick and roundhouse, you will be on the path.

The road to developing Qi and Fa Jin (explosive strength) are way beyond me.

  2. body mechanics push through your legs rotate hips and shoulders slam your punch/kick  out and try to return them even quicker a quck good way to practice rotation is to stand infront of a pole or thai bag not a thick boxers bag and with no guard and just turn your lead shoulder to the centre of the target then your rear one(i do this as a warm up) dont lean turn legs and shoulders while punching if your leaning/reaching the target your not get full rotation remeber use footwork to reach the target, also step through the target while thai kicking step to the outside or inside so your centre line passes theres add ing momentum and power to the kick. ps if your training for mma and your coach has not sorted your hitting power out getta new one!

  3. By working on your ki/chi.

  4. a good way to increase the power of your punches is by shadow boxing with dumbells in your hands.

a good way to increase the power of your kicks is by throwing continueus kicks at a punch bag

if you want to get into mma i strongly suggest that you learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UVCKEbiEJNc

  5. isometric training is the quickest and best way of getting power...
