How can I disable my router from answering pings? ICMP?

I have a Belkin Wireless G router about 2 years old adn after running a test from Shields Up it was determined that everything was secure except my router replied to PINGs.

I want to disable this function . How?

  1. Not all routers have this feature. Netgear routers, for instance, disables response to WAN pings by default and a user can open it if he likes. Not sure if Belkin routers support that. Refer to it's manual to see if you can.


  2. Depends on the model. There should be a security tab of some sort that you can look at that usually allows you to disable it. If it doesn't and if you want a better firmware, try www.dd-wrt.com and see if your router is supported.
