How can I disable the touchpad on a Sony Vaio notebook?

It's driving me nuts, I never use it and I want it gone. Does anyone know how to turn it off? My model is a PCG GRT 916V. I've downloaded the manuals from Sony support but haven't found anything of any use. Any help appreciated.

  1. find the mouse item in control panel, and double click, it will open and find the hardware tab, and clicck to disable it
