How can I dispose of flourescent light bulbs?

I am an environmental freak as you can probably tell. And I just don't want to throw them in the dump. So I was wondering, is there any way I can recycle them?

i'm pretty sure that only CFL light bulbs have mercury and have to be disposed properly. flourescent bulbs can be normaly recyled

Take them to the Richmond-on-Thames recycling centre in Townmead Road off Mortlake Road.  You can recycle all sorts of unexpected things there including fridges & freezers

Check with your local stores. Some Home Depots, Lowe's, and Targets have drop-off sites. It varies from store to store.

I throw them in the trash,  I have been doing this for 30 years or more and the world has not ended yet.
