Question:

How can I dispose of these materials (or what ever) in a green friendly way?

I've done some research on new ways to "go green". It's an interesting subject for me, because I've always felt passionate about how we treat our lovely planet.

Now, I smoke cigarettes and I was thinking about the plastic packaging on the outside of my cigarette packs. Not to mention the filter that comes with them. Got me thinking, also, about foils, and other soft plastic materials that some of my food comes in. I'm sure one of the best ways to dispose of these materials is to not buy them at all, but what can you do with them when you do?

I want to know how I can help, but these materials stump me a bit.

Also, we reuse paper bags as garbage bags and I was wondering what another use for them might be.

Thanks guys!

  1. I have always been serious about doing my best to recycle and not make unnecessary waste. There is an upward practical limit to how much we can practically do without.

I have only recently moved up from bringing my own grocery bags to carrying my own Tupperware for meal leftovers (saves on Styrofoam).

  2. well u see u gotta kill ur self.....

    just kiddin!!!1

    go to a dump

  3. Good question, I will  be watching the answers. I do know that cigarette butts are not biodegradable... they will be here long after your grandkids are gone.... they can be burned, but the residue will be here forever.

  4. Cigarette filters are contaminated with carcinogens, so that is out.  The wrapper would have to be labeled with the type of plastic, if known.

Nothing is accepted for recycling with food wastes, so you would have to wash out the foam plastic containers.  Some recyclers accept them and some don't and I don't know why.

Metal foils are recyclable, but, again, must be cleaned.

  5. The best thing to do with any kind of foils or plastic sheet type waste materials is to drive down the highway in your car, and see if you can get them to catch on your antenna as you throw them out the window.....It's rather fun.

    Enjoy!

  6. okay 1st if your going green you should prolly stop smoking its terrible for the environment!

but use reusable grocery bags instead

  7. For the plastics, foils and even the cigarette packs, I'd say: recycle. Just rinse out anything that had food or materials in it first.

For the butts, I'm stumped. I know some places are trying to use waste as a sort of fuel to get rid of the non recyclable or biodegradable materials. I just wonder how the burning of them won't cause more pollution... I'm sure they'll find a way.
