Yes, I am the Mom. We just moved here so she doesn't have any friends. Plus she is embarrassed of our apt......her Dad won't buy new furniture until we find a house in South Florida...good luck, right? We are still living out of boxes and eating off a folding table after 2 yrs. Her older sister got all the furniture for her apt. when we moved out of state.

Also, many of you are giving me ideas that include money (pedicures, shopping, going out to eat, scrapbooking, etc..) Believe me, I have tried the crafts and swimming(which she doesn't like the sun because she is SO fair skinned. We do the in-home makeup sessions and manicures. We fix each others hair in curlers, etc.....I even let her dye my hair! We do spend too much time together but we just moved here and this is our first summer at home alone. Both of us start back to school Aug. l8th.....I teach. I am just running out of ideas to keep us both occupied.

  1. Go swimming at your local community center, go window shopping, take a day to have an at home makeover: do hair, makeup, paint nails, ect. Your daughter is at a stage where she just wants to spend time with you no matter what it is...no matter what it is that you do make sure you guys are spending time together! Have fun! :)

  2. Go to the mall, learn how to sew, crafts etc.  Go get a pedicure, ride bikes. But I'm guessing that a 13 year old girl would rather be spending more time with her friends than hanging out with her mom 24/7.  Ask her what she would like to do?

  3. 1.swimming

    2.sports

  4. are you her father or her mother? I'm 12, here are my preferences:

w/ dad: go to a batting cage, play catch (softball), watch h**l's Kitchen, play board games, cook, go out for ice cream

w/ mom: go shopping, go skiing, get my hair cut, go window shopping, paint our nails, scrapbooking

  5. Take her for a picnic , and pick wild flowers

Go for a walk to find pebbles, then take them home and have

fun painting them into pet-rocks, then give them away.

Visit a retirement home, and have tea with an elderly man or women. They are wonderful company, have really incredible life stories/experience to share with you, and they're so lonely for xcompany. It will also teach your daughter something good.

Volunteer some time at your local SPCA, animal shelter or community garden.

Go swimming and take a pinic and a camara.

Find a nice outdoor setting and have a "pretend" model photoshoot. Have fun dressing up.

  6. How about finding some things to get you both out of the house?  Go to a park, play tennis, go swimming, etc.  Depending on the facilities and resources where you live, they aren't things that cost much, if anything, you would both be getting fresh air and exercise, and you would be spending valuable bonding time with your daughter and building memories which she is likely to carry with her forever.

  7. I  like going to the library with my children, fishing, walking in the woods, collecting different leaves and trying to identify them, picking berries and making desserts and jams, working in the garden, or if you don't have one, pots or a little herb garden on the window sill, swimming, even window shopping, painting and drawing, indoors and outdoors, bike riding... all of those things are fun and free... sometimes we would pick a subject and all do our own research and see what we came up with... since I love science we would also do science projects together to understand how things work, like getting electricity from a potato or cheese, and we also visited some old people homes or helped out in church, like raking leaves or weeding for shut-ins and older people

  8. Parks are free. Toss a ball around or a frisbee. Take walks & collect leaves & things & make a collage at home. At the local library you can rent movies as well as books. Many museums, zoos, often have a "free day" once a week, usually a weekday. Call around & find out.

  9. you can do make overs go for walks go to the park maybe a trip to the zoo i love going with my son hes 11months i and im sure i enjoy it much more then him lol. if you can like once a week try to go out for lunch or dinner  backing is always fun go swimming

  10. What about scrapbooking.  You can get some crafts and start an albulm with some family photos.  That is a great age to do that and it is a great outlet for creativity.

is a great site for ideas.  Then go to walmart or joannes fabric and get some stuff.  It does get expensive if you are not careful.  I usually get my stuff at joannes when it is on sale.  They have a HUGE selection of stuff.  Im sure she might even like putting a book together for her and her friends too.
