Can you help me to draw Lewis structures please. I need a topic which explains how to draw them. Also I'm confused about something. Sometimes they just share the electrons but sometimes one of them gives and other one accepts it.

  1. Chemical sign in the middle

    Dots around outside

    #Of dots=#Of valence electrons

    valence electrons usually =group number

Dots are shared when one atom bonds with another, one is always a giver, and one is always a reciever, no dots are added or taken away, just shared.

P.S. If your chemistry teacher is anal retentive like mine was, you might wanna try and learn to differentiate which type of structure uses lines as opposed to dots to show shared electrons.

  2. Really hard to do these in this forum. Try these websites, I think that they show drawing these structures quite well.
