I love the simplicity, but just want to add a little something to it., so it's not like every other contemporary kitchen. Any suggestions?

  1. Try a brown glaze to make them looked aged. Its very easy to use, its stays wet for quite awhile so theres plenty of time to work with it and get the look you want

  2. Change the handles or get some of those decals they have on ebay or probably at wall paper stores (?) and put it on them - not cover the whole thing, or you could put words on them (cook, love, food, eat, home, heart, or whatever) take a look at this link (google images) to get an idea of how many different wall decals there are now, there are some seriously gorgeous ones, some are massive but you can cut these to fit - you'd need to for the door and drawers to open if you use one continuous image.

  3. You could stencil a design you like on them.

Or decoupage cut outs of paper or fabric that goes with your kitchen colors or theme. Allene's sells this or use white glue if you want to remove them later.

You might use vinyl, washable wallpaper to change the plain look. There are so many designs, it would be unique.

If money was no object, you could have a professional artist painter paint them.
