My computers monitor broke so I had to use one of my moms from work. It looks so ugly sitting on my desk it is beige and has a piece of tape stuck on there and an ugly silver sticker i cannot get off. Is there a way I can decorate it up without making it look tacky? Btw, my rom is blue, green, and purple. Thanks!

  1. Get it as clean as you can. Work on getting that sticker off. (Try Goo Gone)

If it still won't budge, maybe use some of those "skinz" stickers to cover it up. The kind they sell to decorate Guitar Hero guitar controllers, Gameboy DS or XBoxes. It may take a few packages but you can cover the whole monitor then add lights (by Antec) that plug into free usb ports on your PC. You can frame the whole display in lights. They change colors if you get the right ones. Good Luck!

  2. i'd try some red capri pants and strappy sandals.

  3. Hi! I taped pictures of myself, friends, and family on mine. With scotch tape. And I put some cute stickers on. You know like the ones from Hello Kitty, any cute stickers would do =)

  4. First, I'd get some cleaner like Fantastic, or 409, or Windex and clean the outside case. You can get the tape off and even that silver sticker if you use ammonia, or other grease-cutting cleanser. It takes some "elbow grease" and rubbing. (Make sure it is unplugged when you do this.)

Next, because monitors, especially old ones heat up, you have to be careful what you cover it with. Avoid flammable papers, fabrics etc. Avoid refrigerator magnets. (they can mess with your monitor image).

You can buy decorative stickers, and collect advertising stickers for rock bands, or sport products, or fashion accessories. They often give these away for free at record stores, music stores, sporting good stores, etc. You can even select bumper stickers which fit your tastes. My kids used to get these thick, plastic stickers of butterflies, hearts, etc. and give them to me, so I'd stick them on my monitor at work, to brighten it up, and let me have happy thoughts during the day.

Along the top edge of your monitor you can place figurines, action figures, souvenirs from your travels, key chain collections, etc.

Ultimately you are focused on the screen, so the external decorating is just for show. I would wander a mall with decorating in mind and see what you stumble upon while browsing.

Another idea, is to create a frame which fits around your screen, and just wide enought to block the front-on view of your ugly monitor body. The frame needs to be cut so it doesn't block access to any on-off sswitch or controls. You can hand-color this frame before you mount it, or paint it to match your room and furnishings.  I've given you an address with this idea.

    Happy decorating!

  5. put some stickers on it, like roxy, billabong..etc.
