  1. you have to pay a toll for the bridges, after that just take route 22 to somerset


  2. The only way you are going to be able to get from LGA to Somerset is to go through Manhattan. The 59th Street Bridge, Brookyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and Williamsburgh Bridge do not have tolls. You also don't have to pay tolls when going from NYC to NJ on the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel.

    I don't recomend it though.

  3. As far as I know it's impossible. All bridges between Long Island and New Jersey are toll bridges. Sure, you could drive your car for free across the Brooklyn Bridge, but once in Manhattan you'd have to pay a toll to use a bridge or tunnel to New Jersey. Or you could drive all the way into upstate New York and back down again, wasting about 2 hours.

    However, once you're in New Jersey, just simply follow US 1. Don't be tempted to use the New Jersey Turnpike- they'll stick it to you big time.
