How can I eliminate noise from an old tape recording and transfering it to MP3 format?

  1. creative sounblaster sound card for your pc--i bought one for 89.00 ---you can plug your stereo system into your pc-and convert tapes to mp3--there is a noise and hiss adjustment ,it works good!


  2. search out forums on this, but most run the tapes through a program such as a professional program called cool pro edit that has a hiss eliminator and my vote is if you read enough info out there, the free Audacity sound program can probably be made to do the same thing

  3. Audacity (free download) has a noise removal feature.  Once you load your file, select the noise, then adjust the slider until you remove as much noise as you can without affecting the overall sound.  You can also utilize the eq to do this as well... or both features together.
