I want to take any image I have off of the internet, enlarge it enough so it'll fit perfectly onto a 8.5x11 piece of computer paper, and keep quality as much as possible. How?

  1. you cant inlarge an image and expect to keep the quality, you can try using a sharpen filter on photoshop/gimp or something but theres a set amount of information in an image unless you use vectors

  2. You can't, that's why people upload low quality images. They look good on the screen only.

  3. Look at the pixel count of the image(s) you want to pirate, and by pixel count I mean how many on the sides, like 800x600....

It takes a minimum of 200 pixels per inch of photograph you want to make. A 800x600 would make a 4x3 inch photo that looks pretty good. A 8x10 needs to be 1600x2000 pixels, minimum, to look good, and you won't be finding too many people who offer their work anywhere near this size on the net. Your 8.5x11 would have to be 1700x2200 pixels to print out 'good'.

Some image editing programs offer re-sizing or re-sampling and you "can" make the images any size you want, but anything more than a .5x increase in size generally start to look real bad. Most on line images just don't have enuf pixels to do anything with other than - viewing - on your computer screen.. not to mention the fact they be compressed jpgs to boot...

  4. Contact the photographer and see if he will let you use a full resolution copy of the image.  if you download it off the internet and copy or altar the image anyway you are in violation of U.S. and international copyright laws.  That carries some pretty heavy penalties.

  5. why would you want to steal images from the artists who created them and the legitimate uses of these images? dont you know stealing is wrong? didnt your mother teach you any better than that? maybe you should read the bible while youre at it.

you cant do it. you are limited by the pixel size and resolution of the original downloaded image regardless of what software you use.

  6. Well it really depends on the original quality of the photo. If it is of poor quality, the bigger you make it, the less the quality. Some photos you find were uploaded in high quality and will easily transfer to 8.5x11 without decreasing the quality. If you find a picture on the web, click it, which will usually take you to an image-only page. If the photo is still small, don't bother trying to make it larger. If the page opens up and it fits the whole screen, or close to it, right-click and then click "Save as". Save it to a folder in your computer that you'll remember, and then open it using whatever picture viewer you use, then print.

PS-Not ALL images are copyrighted! The ones that aren't (most images on the web) you can download and print all you want.
