Im going to be babysitting for some kids of my mum's friend. I dont really know the children and they are a bit older, seven, eight and nine.

I think this will be harder for me, because older kids get bored and im going to have to entertain them for the few hours before they go to bed.

They might act up because they dont know me and im scared theyll say Im boring or mean to their parents. I really need the cash, so any ideas??

Im 14.

  1. face paints, game borads art and crafts

  2. Rice Krispies and chocolate are both cheap to buy adn they can make chocolate rice krispie cakes or corn flakes. its great beause theres no cooking invoived. apart form if you melt the chocolate on teh stove but you can do that in the microwave.

Either that or take a laod of films round and get them to choose a film to watch.

Just be happy and smiley and they'll like you.

  3. PUT ON  movie  Or get a board game that a child would like

and know how to play like guess who or monopoly

  4. how about a dvd?..if possible take some munchies 2 bride them with, just make it seem like ur interested in what there doing instead of sitting in front of the tv ignoring them as most babysitters do, good luck im looking after 4 kids at the mo aged 5, 2 aged 9 and one aged 11...let them do there own thing and good luck

  5. board games

    tv

    DVDs

if they have game consoles that

play outside games or something :D

    or coloring

    or dolls(girls) cars (boys)

:D practically anything not dangerous use your imagination :D

and most of all have fun

  6. They can do some drawing or painting (but lay down newspaper so its not too messy)

After that they can watch a DVD

  7. you can try making crafts, thats what i do...i babysit for a 6 yearold and they really get hooked....you can make those string friendship bracletes, or you can just watch tv or just ask them whatthey want to do

  8. well my grandchildren at that age were able to entertain themselves by then, you wont have to play with them

  9. Find out what subjects they like science, mysteries, animals, etc.  Bring age-appropriate books with you.  If they protest, convince them to try listening to the stories.  You should be able to capture their attention if the subject matter is of interest.  Reading is the most calming for children prior to bedtime.  Remember you need to wind them down not stimulate their brains.

Be patient, but firm with them.

  10. If you're at their house they'll probably have game consoles and toys to keep them amused.

When I watch my son and nephew who are both 10 a lot of the time I don't even see them because they're in the bedroom playing Xbox.

Sometimes I'll say we're going to have a party and get them involved in that.  I think the last one I did was a pirates night.  I just got in some food, sweets, drinks etc then they spent ages getting ready for it.  They made pirate costumes, pirate treasure which I was supposed to find and it took them ages to do this and kept them entertained for a long time.  They wouldn't let me in the room until they had finished, so I just sat with my feet up watching TV it was great lol.

Then they had fun showing me their costumes, which were basically made out of anything they could find but they looked great.  By this time it was quite late so I got the food out, put them to bed and we watched Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Just try to keep things fun for them and you'll be fine :)

  11. play a game called, "who can keep quiet for the longest?"

  12. bored games work for me, also you let them play in the back yard, they'll like it if you play with them!

  13. why dont you make fairy cakes with them? you can buy boxes in any supermarket that supply all the stuff you need, they are only £1-£2 you;s will have fun making them and you can get them in all different colours and stuff. then put on a dvd or something and tuck in.

take round some make up if they are girls and let them put make up on you and you do it to them, they will love that.

take round some of your cd's and play music.

ask then what they usually do and join in, they will probz like this. good luck!

  14. board games, basketball, baseball (outdoor sports), playing in the woods, cooking, beauty shop (if they're girls).

Basically, ask them and they will tell you what they like to do. You were there ages not too long ago so think about what you liked to do and how you liked to be treated.

  15. Kids that age enjoy board games and older games like i spy or card games
