Do makeovers and play dress up. Let them be creative. Paint their nails and do their hair and makeup to make them feel like princesses and then put on a play. Sing silly songs and dance with them.

Oh my 8 year old girl loves to just play....her and her friends will get out the make up and nail polish and have fun. You can always take them to the mall to look at the new fashion, take them to a movie, or take them to a park and have a picnic. If you have a pool nearby, they would love that. If you have a sprinkler system, turn it on and let them go dance in the water. Make sure there is music involved....they love music. Good luck.

Make a Karaoke contest... where they can sing on a "stage" somewhere in your home and feel like pop stars.

Try making cookies and let them decorate them, if not cookies maybe rice crispy treats, then any thing with water, sprinkler, swimming, or just playing in the water hose.

Take them to a park. Go for a walk around the block. Paint finger nails and toe nails (but ask their mom first to make sure this is ok). Watch a movie. Let them help you cook lunch or dinner. Play checkers, go fish, war, or any basic card game, or any board game. Put on some music and have a "dance party." Go to the library and read some books. Blow bubbles, play with chalk, color. They will have a good attention span if you find something that they want to do. They will be able to tell you what they want to do. Good luck you'll have a good time.

Take them to a pottery place.  They will have fun creating, sculpting and painting an ash tray, bowl, plate, etc.

It will provide excellent stimulation at a low cost.
