Asked my girlfriend if this was worded correctly and she says "She does not know what I am asking about, so how is she supposed to know." Goodgreef, I hope readers can give me a better answer.

  1. Not only what hotoace said, but you would need to know the specification of the charger (how much current its kicking out) and what type of battery, for instance Lithium cells must be charged slowly and never overcharged (they go bang).

  2. Batteries are rated in Amp. hours, this holds true for both discharging  and charging, Of course you must know the amps.

  3. Actually battery chargers have lights that will tell the user when a battery is charging and when the charging is complete.

Since the charge time has more to do with the amount of discharge the battery has experienced, there is no way to calculate a specific charge time of the same battery, let alone between different brands.

    Batteries used in digital cameras:

Two to three hours for the first time the battery is charged is typical for Li-ion batteries.  NiMH batteries can charge in as little as 30 minutes.

On the other hand, the first charge on my roam phone was 16 hours ... 12 hours for my Sony camcorder.
