My cat is really fat. He's probably about 20 pounds, and he bulges out. He eats, sleeps, and poops, and that's about it. He doesn't even clean himself, his mother cleans him. I bought a laser for him to chase to try to get some exercise, but he won't chase it. How else can I get him some esercise?

  1. Try taking him for walks if he is indoors. put a collar and leash on him. He won't appreciate being drug around but you may just let him do the walking and you follow him. Cats especailly like it in the evening before its dark because the little bugs in the grass...that may arouse his interest. Also, I would put him on a good catfood and stay within the guidelines printed on the bag. It will tell you how much food he should be getting. :)

PS try a catnip toy also. Some cats love it.

  2. Buy a mouse. Turn it loose.

And stop feeding him so much. If he loses weight, he'll feel more like exercising and moving. YOU control what he eats.

  3. cut back on his food , or get a special low cal food from the vet. how old is he...the mom cat has made him dependent on her, he needs to learn these things

  4. feathers on a string work really good. cats love to chase that. it will get them excersize too

  5. My cat doesn't chase lasers, either. Try dragging a piece of thick, SOFT string around on the floor and see if he chases that.

DON'T use yarn, twine, or anything else you cat may choke on if he gets it in his mouth.

    Spare shoelaces work quite well.
