Question:

How can I expose my inner-world?

I have not accomplished much in life, other than doing well at computer games and stuff...

Inside I know I am so full of creativity and ideas that are unique, I just have no way to channel them outwards...

I am sure that if the world saw but a glimmer of my inner universe, they would be awe-struck, I just can't get it out. It's all inside, and staying there. On the outside I am suffering, no job, no friends, not much family support.

I have no known talents and I am not superclever. I suffer depression and social anxiety, so... help!

  1. "Shoulds" can be a "downer". I think you "should" yourself over things you don't want to do. Why not just agree not to rise to others' expectations, and just meet your own, whatever they are.

A second observation is that we tend not to be objective when we evaluate our talent and accomplishments. It helps a lot to have a trusted ear to listen and reflect back on what we see in ourselves. When we're kids, we have teachers and coaches who rise to this challenge and motivate us. When we leave school or our early families, we've got to figure out how to replace these beneficial voices.

Find your audience. They will appreciate and motivate you.

  2. This is a good question.  Have you tried art?  Put your wonderful ideas into a painting, or write them down if you aren't artistic.

Writing them down is the most important thing you can do.  If you don't use them, they are lost, and your creativity will become repressed.

Write, and once you've written, read it and do whatever comes to your mind as you're reading - be it painting, drawing, dancing.  If you find you don't have the opportunity to create what you imagine, writing it down gives you the door to let it out through, and also records it so you can use it when you do spot an opportunity.  Opening the door by writing it, or even speaking it into a recorder, will clear the way for ideas to come through on how to use it.

  3. by being creative, you must dream odd things from what I'm hearing about your life--ever try drawing what you've dreamt??
