We live in Phoenix Az. We live in a nice, quiet neighborhood, that never has anything like robberies, break ins, vandalism, etc. We have a fence and gate that locks around our home. but we dont have iron rods over the windows or anything. So if we sleep with the windows open there open. We dont Even have screens for them. We lock the house door. But, I still dont sleep good at night.. Is there a way I could feel more comfortable sleeping with them open though?

  1. Yes, see a therapist.

  2. mmm

    1. buy screans

    2. tell your parents your not feeling safe

    3. shut the down stairs ones

    4. shut them in the night, wake up early then open them

lol xD im not sure but you could always lock your door or hold somthing in front of it, that way nothing will get you.

  3. Harness yourself in so you don't fall out

  4. Put neon lights on someone else's open window...

  5. You should NEVER leave your windows open at night. It would be bad enough if they could watch you eating, imagine sleeping!! No thank-you I like my PRIVACY!!

  6. i feel uncomfortable sleeping with the window open too..

i have a safety catch which you can buy it latches onto you window and the frame so that you cant open it any more than a couple of inches and only the person inside the house can control this. But in the daytime if you would like te window open you can twist the latch and it can come off.. enabling you to open it wider.

these latches come cheap and you can get them in lots of diy shops

  7. What good is locking the door if you can just hop through the open window? Yikes!! That goes for robbers AND bugs. Ew. Buy screens. Then buy these lovely little alerts that go on your window that will sound an alarm if the window is pushed open:  http://www.acehardware.com/product/index...

  8. I keep an AK47 within reach under my bed.

  9. I used to say to myself. that if something was going to happen to me, why would they choose the Northern Hemisphere?

    Why the US?

    Why Arizona?

    Why Phoenix?

    Why [my neighbourhood]?

    Why [My street]?

    Why [House number] ?

    Why my bedroom?

    - It made me realise that if anyone was going to go anywhere, there was such a small chance it would be at my house!

  10. i live in a big city but were in canada so sometimes we dotn even lock our doors but since its americai dont know if you sleep on second floor than i guess it is ok

  11. Are you retarded?

  12. I use heavy gage quarter inch screen on my screen doors because I have a big ol dog. I am going to put it over my windows screens too because I believe the stuff will protect the windows from hurricanes. It cost about 5 bucks per window and is attached using staples.

  13. If your neighborhood is relatively crime free....why are you so uncomfortable?

If someone really wants to break into your house... having your windows closed or even having iron rods on your window wouldn't stop them. They'd just break the glass or kick in one of your doors.

Get yourself a big "live-in" dog...one that would live in your house. (Dogs chained up in the back yard are just about pointless.) I have two (well-trained) big house dogs and they are great companions. Even if you don't get a dog...put a "Beware of Dog" sign up somewhere.

Leave a light on inside your house (front room or hall)  to let any burglers know you are home.

Install one or two of those "motion detector" solar powered lights out side near your outer doors. They are not that expensive and are real easy to install. I put ours up and I'm nearly 60. They operate on solar power so they don't add on to your electric bill.

    .

I would also get some window screens though... if only to keep the bugs out. I worry more about those nasty little things getting in and sucking my blood while I sleep then humans wanting to steal my junk!

  14. just try your best to ignore it

  15. An open window isn't of much use to a burglar if the opening isn't large enough for them to get in.

If you have ordinary up-and-down windows all you need to do is put a piece of wood on top of the window frame and jam it up against the top of the window opening so that the up-and-down motion of the window is restricted.

By doing this you can get a good amount of fresh air while limiting the opening to an amount less than what is needed to gain entry to the house.

  16. Admit the fact to yourself that you will never feel comfortable sleeping with the windows open because you live your life in FEAR!!

You could live on a farm in the middle of absolutely nowhere and it would not change that fact.

If someone is going to break into your home...it does not matter if the windows are open or not.  It does not matter that you have fences, gate, or even if you had an alarm system.  If someone REALLY wanted to get in your house they will NO MATTER WHAT!!!
