Question:

How can I fight the Co-Operators. My home burnt and they wont pay , let me sell or demo the home..HELP!!

My house burnt Easter sunday 2005. Fire dept found no cause, Co-Operators brought in there own fire investigators. We have gotten nothing, no one will return our calls at there lawyers office. The City sends us bills for the property maintenace the fire dept now wants the building ripped down at our cost???? The co-operators took charge of the property in 2006, WHy are they all coming after us??? I NEED HELP TO FIGHT THEM...please anyone....

  1. The Co-Operators is an insurance company mbrcatz.

    Have they given you a reason why they have not done anything with the claim? Are they denying coverage? If not then I would call the Superintendent of Insurance, the Insurance Ombudsman or the Financial Institutions Commissions of the jurisdiction you are in right away and ask them for assistance. Three years is way too long for an insurer to make a decision as to whether they are going to pay a claim or not.

    If they have denied the claim then I need to know the reason why the claim was denied, however you will probably need a lawyer at this point.


  2. Any monies you are due, should be paid to you from YOUR insurance policy.  If you don't have your own policy, then YOU are uninsured.  

    I have no idea what "cooperator" means.  If they are a co-owner, they have as much right as you do - sic the city on them.   If they are NOT a co-owner, they have no authority.

    You need to talk to YOUR AGENT to help you straighten out this mess.
