How can I figure out how much it would cost for me to start up a home-based event planning company?

I'm young and my friends and I want to start our own company but we are having trouble figure out a start up cost.

If you have a technical school in your area, they usually have programs there that will help you with all you need to know. Heck, they even have grants and scholarships to help fund  your way through the program. I've got no know how on starting up a business, but, I know these programs will help, and will teach you very much plus, they normally let you start up your business in their place of learning..your own "area" though. I have a friend that does that and it wasn't that hard for her to get started. She set up a website (that was probably the most expensive part) Got a ton of business cards printed up and started promoting like crazy. she held a benefit for children and got the local radio and newspaper involved and that got her out there and brought her some business. I would say to try things like that to get yourselves known. Plus its a great cause!  (she spent around $1500 on her site. but it is real nice. I would just check out other website in this industry to get an idea about what you want and then check on prices) Good luck!

I believe Entrepreneur magazine sell business start up kits that list everything needed to start a business and gives guidance on what to do for permits, promotion and etc. They're pretty thorough and I believe what you are planning is one of the businesses they cover.
