Depends on what you mean by "Value".  Value may mean what you'd pay for it; it might mean what a seller would pay for it, it may mean retail, it might mean discounted, etc, etc.

Here's a decent way to look at it, though.  The "Value" of a guitar is what an insurance company would pay if they had to replace it.  I had some guitars stolen a while back -- the way my insurance company determined a value was by going to http://www.gbase.com and looking up the same models to find pricing/value information.
