Question:

How can I find a cheap house to rent?

I am moving out of my crackerbox apartment and need to find a place ($0-600/mo) with a fenced yard. I'm only looking for a one bedroom... but I can't find ANY place in my area that will accept my puppy (German Shepherd). I've been to just about EVERY rental site on the web and have even driven around the zipcode I need to be within proximity of. I've bought the classifieds and everything-- I need to move ASAP. Can anyone help me find a rental home in (or near) the zipcode 64081. I am so desparate right now, I'll pay someone fifty bucks just to find a place that works.

Thanks in advance.

  1. try a google search. i typed in "houses for rent in 64081" (without the quotes) and then clicked on the "find houses for rent with housing search". it came up with a few results, but nothing in your price range.

To be honest, many landlords don't like puppies, especially german shepherds. while they are a beautiful breed, the have a bad reputation for being aggressive, and puppies are naturally a bit destructive. try talking to your potential landlord about the puppies lineage (like how they are gentle, non-aggressive, etc) and if the puppy is house broken, definitely tell them that.

Also try looking into a duplex. they are usually a bit less expensive than an actual house, (at least in my area) and you might have better luck with the landlord.

  2. see if someone would mind looking after your pup while you move into your new place and then see in a few weeks if you can have a pet.

  3. Your problem is the German Shepherd puppy.  Get rid of the dog and your problems will be solved.  Puppies are very destructive, since they love to chew on anything they can find.  They also tend to make messes until they are fully trained.  Now, if YOU were the landlord, would you want that in your house ?
