How can I find a good home for my chickens?

I want to get chickens, but my dad says I need a good "exit strategy", which is reasonable. Any suggestions for new homes for my chickens? **Not somewhere where they'll be eaten!** Somewhere like a petting zoo, or locals who sell eggs...? Sacramento area.

The Sacramento Audobon Society has some resources for injured birds, but they may be willing to take an unwanted chicken as well:

If you have to find a new home for your chickens before you even get them then I would say isnt a good sign.That being said, I would ask the person that you get them from if you can bring them back if it doesnt work out.Of course they probably wouldnt give you your money back but atleast you know that are in a good place.If you dont want to do that I would see if there is a livestock auction in your area.There you can sell them to area farmers but you wont be sure that they wont get eaten no matter what you do with them.
