I need to find a job, I am over qualified but am staying there for a few months to master my spanish skills. I want to work either at a golf course, hotel or at the marina. I have many skills and past work experience for work at either three. I leave for PV in early september. How can I find a job before I get there.???

  1. Did you alreay apply for a work visa allowing you to work in Mexico?

  2. Sparks Mex is right with his opinion.

I think the same. When I came here I brought my own money and I am still earning in my homecountry a little bit. It's a question of organization. If You want a long time permission to stay in Mexcio, You need to show, that You have at least 1000 USD each month available.

Mexican laws do not permit that You work here in any job a mexican person also could do. You may qualify for a workingpermission only if the job needs special professionalism.

At least You have one. Its Your english. With that You may work in any hotel or tourism thing. But, this way You will not improve Your spanish language.

And, that what You will earn, will be not enough to live here in Your known way. You will not go to the Malecon for drinking an expensive beer, and You will not enter a city restaurant at high prices. You will not use a taxi and You will not book a tour.

You could do this timeshare thing, moving us citizens to spend their money on timeshareobjects. There You will earn a lot of money, but You will loose all Your reputation.

However, to help You a little bit, choose a good time to come here. Should be the high season, from Oktober to March. If You come now in July, You wouldn't find any job, as tourism is very low. ( September could be okay to begin looking for a job. To find a job You need to be here if nobody knows You.)

Finally a little calculation about the costs to live here:

Living: 3500 including furniture, water and electricity, 10 to 20 minutes away from the beach in a tranquil zone ( month )

Food: 1000 the week, makes 4000 (month)

Transportation by bus: Depending on Your activities, about 500 (month)

Phone: 0 - You dont need it.

Health: 0 - but if You become ill You have to pay in cash.

This is 8000 Pesos, about 800 USD. To live a bit more comfortable, and not cooking each day pasta with ketchup, sometimes going to a disco and having some beer, inviting a woman ( or a man ) to the cinema, buying some souvenirs and so on, You will need about 1500 USD.

If You find a job in an hotel where You earn 1000 USD You are very lucky. Also it could be that You just earn 600 USD.

For example, the low end is for the woman who clean up the hotel rooms, 4 USD a day !!! Really !!

On the golf course You earn well if You have a teachers certificate, same as a skipper in the marina.

If You are a chef, You always find a good payed job also.

There are some humanity projects, organized from the USA. You may look for something like that. At least You will improve Your spanish and You will not take the job a mexican person could need to bring home some food for his family.

    Good luck

    You are welcome anyway

  3. Time share sales sounds like what you need

The Mexicans need the jobs much more than you do.  Save up some more money or stay home
