Question:

How can I find a place to donate baby clothes?

I have a lot of baby boy clothes (some used and in great condition, some new), and I would like to donate them. I don't care where, just as long as the organization is reputable (like the salvation army or something). Does anyone know how to find a place to drop them off? Or is there a way to find out where those big bins are that you can put used clothes in?

  1. in the US there is the Salvation Army or The Goodwill Store - and most likely you will get a receipt so you can write off on your taxes - or you can donate to your local church or thrift shop or simply drop in the Red Cross or Big Brother/Big Sister bins - but maybe you could sell some on eBay - baby clothes are BIG sellers

  2. I'm not sure if you're in the UK or not; if you are there are lots of charity shops on the High Street, such as Save the Children, Oxfam, Red Cross, etc., who would welcome your baby clothes.

Otherwise, try web-searching for local branches of organisations working with children, either at home or overseas, and contacting them.  If you stick with a name you've heard of (like Red Cross or Salvation Army) you can be as sure as you can be that they will be put to good use.

Also a local children's hospital may like them.

Congratulations on your generosity as well!

  3. Look in the yellow pages under thrift store for the nearest Salvation Army or Disabled Vets store. And thank you.

  4. take them to your nearest charity shops

  5. Another place that you can look for are Women's shelters.  There are shelters for women and children, most for those who have left homes where there was abuse.  They always need baby and women's items.

They are not as accessible, organizations that are listed in your yellow pages or online in your town that help women will be able to tell you how to go about donating.  The addresses for these places are not public for safety reasons.  If you don't have any women's shelters call the nearest homeless shelter or mission.  They likely have a network and can help you.
