  1. That's because there's too many web developers that claim to be skillful that aren't (especially around here)...

You need to be more specific... what, exactly, are you looking for? An actual developer, or more of a designer/developer?

Do you have something designed, yourself? Try your local yellow pages... check out decent websites, and see who made them - there's bound to be contact information, or a link to the developer's/designer's website.

I consider myself to be a good web *developer*, and I'm working hard on my designer skills... the two aren't always equal, is what I'm saying.

  2. It all depends on what you need. But you can post an ad on craiglist, but be very specific about your needs and budgets.

    www.craiglist.com

  3. Register your project at eLance.com

You might also consider rentacoder.com, but I personally prefer and recommend elance.com (I've used both several times).

Both of the sites, allow you to publicly or confidentially post the details of your project and even set up restrictions on who can bid.

You then get different developers or businesses that bid on your project.

You can read all about them before choosing who to go with.  They will present their price, qualifications and more.

  4. anything you find on for the easy edits are second rate and limeted if you looking for someone to manage your webpage for you  i would have to say google it otherwise the web editer i love is called coffeecup you check it out at there webpage coffeecup.com

  5. Have not tried them but there designs look good.

    http://www.studio7designs.com/

  6. The best advice I can give is to find a local business that has a website you like, and ask them who developed it for them. In the IT industry, word of mouth is often the best way to find out if someone is really capable or not.

A person can have all kinds of letters after their name and not be able to code their way out of a paper bag. But when you see someone's work, and it is tried and tested... well, the proof is in the pudding.
