I would like to have a baby with my husband but unfortunately he isnt able to.we would love to bring up a baby together and he has agreed that the only way this is likely is to find a donor, this is likely my last chance as i am now 41 ,so any answers would be really helpful

  1. Google it. You are bound to find a few places there and around your area that have sperm banks! Good luck!

  2. i'd loan l you my partner if i could (joke) we als live in Glasgow, i am unsure of any myself but best to maybe phone or talk to family planning whi might be able to tell you where to look otherwise try looking under fertility clinics etc, otherwise talk to your gp who might be able to point you in the right direction, sorry you husband is unable to have children but good luck

  3. When the law changed a few years ago, abolishing the donor's right to anonymity, the number of sperm donors fell sharply.  I believe there was a news article about the fact that there was only one donor left in the whole of Scotland (absolutely serious), so you might have to head south a bit.

  4. Instead of going to a sperm bank, you could ask a guy that you know and trust and pay them to give you as many samples as you need for a set price. That would be cheaper and quicker than going to a sperm bank.

  5. Ask your doctor, He should have that info

  6. There are two ways I know of to go about this...One, Ask your physician for assistance in finding one. Since, he or she may have knowledge of the process involved in finding one.  Second, find an attorney who will place a confidential (for you) ad in the paper seeking a donor who matches your criteria for a donor, i.e. hair/eye color, physical dimensions, race, intelligence, etc.

Since, the UK has socialized medicine I do not know if your physician would be able to charge you for this service. An attorney will probably charge for their services.

In the US, this is an expensive procedure and not taken by the average couple.  The best of luck to the both of you.

  7. Hi Elaine,  I am also trying to concieve and my husband has a very low sperm count.  We are in the process of attending the assisted conception services unit in Glasgow.  Have you been referred by your doctor here?  You should def go to your GP and they will be able to inform you of the best route for you to go down.

Best of luck and I really hope it all works out for you.

    xxxxxxxx
