My company needs to deliver DVD's to our clients. Some are in Europe and some here in the states. What kind of DVD will play anywhere?

It seems that some will play on PC, some on DVD players, some on mac... I need to know which one will do all.

Anyone one??? hello?

  1. Dude, a DVD plays on anything that can read them. Maybe you are thinking of the region numbers.

  2. blu-ray and hd dvd are universal, but hd dvd is not made any more, so blu-ray should do it for you, if you are making them your self, the blu-ray equipment could be expensive, if you are a small company

  3. dvd store

  4. A DVD is a DVD.  Unless you put region encoding into your program (which is expensive - and pointless) any DVD you burn will be "universal" (better known as "region-free.")

However, one problem you might run into is that the video system in the US differs from the one in Europe, and they aren't cross compatible.  You'll need to create one version that's in NTSC (mainly North America, Japan) and one that's in PAL (Europe, parts of Asia, Middle East.)  This only will be a problem if you're creating a disc meant to be played in standalone DVD players.  Computer data files - including videos (.avi, .mpg, etc) - aren't region coded at all and can be read by ANY computer DVD drive.

  5. Blu-ray dvds are universal. also progressive scan dvd players should play all types of dvds so hopefully your clients own a player such as these.
