I am running a nonprofit organization in Southern India and I am trying to find donors to support our programs and projects. I believe that I might be able to get support from people of Indian origins who are working both in India and abroad. Does anyone have suggestions in how I can find a list of potential donors?

  1. Look for businesses and local offices of corporations in your area -- the best person to map who these are is you. Donors fund organizations they know. Invite them to come and see your nonprofit, to see first hand the work you are doing, the difference you are making, etc. Have media stories and photos that show the good work your organization is doing. You could even have a special event/open house designed especially for businesses. Emphasize the difference you are making and the results your organization can take credit for -- businesses want to fund success, not desperation for funds.
