Question:

How can I find companies that are similar to eachother?.....?

I recently finished a 1-year temp job with a family-run import/export company in Cardiff. I loved it; the friendly, laidback atmosphere was heaven compared to the frantic call centres I have previously worked in. I want to be able to find more companies like this so I can apply to work there. I want to find companies that are similar in operation (import/export), number of staff etc... Is there a list somewhere that could help me? I've tried agencies but they tell me that smaller companies like that do their own recruiting.

Or perhaps you know of a vacancy?

Any help would be most appreciated...

  1. this might be stating the obvious but googling the same keyword/search term should bring up results of similar businesses

  2. i might sound daft, but have a look at the yellow pages under importers in cardiff/wales?

smll family businesses might not afford to enter trade mags etc.

why not ask around too, as it sounds like you're suited to SME's, not just the industry

  3. Hey,

    Try www.jobcentreonline.com

or you could always look up companys on www.yell.com?

    Good luck

    x*x

  4. Your company's competitors are likely to be similar.

Why not continue, where you are working presently.

Your company's competitors are likely to pick you up them self the day they realise that you are required by them. Keep your fingers crossed, your existing job is likely to be declared, permanent.

    With all the Best.

  5. Try finding a trade magazine that deals with that industry.

There should be import/export trade journals and magazine out there. They'll list all relevant companies plus you'll see who is advertising.

Your state library should have all of these and the librarian will be able to help you find which ones are relevant.
