I live in south florida, the largest cruise port in the U.S. I'm sure there are a few cabins vacant the day of sailing which the cruise lines would like to fill. I'm willing to pack and sail for a deep discount. How do I obtain this info?

  1. Oh, you live in south FL. Good. You are driving distance form the pier. Unlike us, who live in North Dakota!!!. You need to contact the cruise line and register for last minute bookings. There are always several no-shows.

  2. Even if you find out that info, it won't do you any good.  You can no longer show up at the pier and get on a cruise.  Security clearances take at least a few days to process.

  3. Unfortunately cruise ships sail full and do not book in the day of sailing.  And because of national security and customs laws & document processing this is not allowed even if there were a vacancy.  You can however, get deeply discounted cruises a week or two in advance when available and you can watch them daily if you are pretty flexible with travelling. Living in Florida is an excellent plus because you have the largest availability around without having to travel far.  You can always go to the cruise lines personal website and check their specials or hot deals at the moment.  Or you can use the best website for last minute cruise travel; Vacations To Go http://www.vacationstogo.com.  There you can click on the 90 day countdown and see departures leaving within a week or two and later.  You can usually find sought after 7 day cruises for $399 and 5 days for $199 sometimes.  Keep an eye out everyday.  You can also get amazing discounts on one-way transatlantic cruises (say they are moving a ship for the season from the Caribbean to Europe..ex. Miami to Barcelona).  This is the best advice I can give you or check out my website and contact me if you need more advice or need help planning and looking for a great deal.

  4. Sorry but that does not happen anymore with the new Homeland Security regulations.  It used to be a good deal, but that is long gone, down the same path as 98 cent gasoline.

  5. Due to the security laws now in place....it does not happen like you heard of 10 years ago....Go to your local ASTA travel agent and book a cruise.....they are as low as 299.00 a week plus taxes in off season...
