  1. Firstly, follow Possum's advice.

Secondly, when I was searching and had names and such, I used inexpensive resources on the Internet.  Many sites charge under $10.00 to access public records that aren't necessarily in the phone book.

Zabasearch.com is free, and in many cases lists the birth month and/or year of the person.  That definitely helps if there is more than one person with that name.

Knowx.com and Intelius.com are both under $10.00.  Intelius lets you have access to all of the results of a search for just a few dollars.  Knowx is the one I used in my search.

Like Kahlua, I also found relatives via Classmates.com and Myspace.com.  My sister was on classmates under her maiden name and married name, and then I found a current Myspace page when I searched for her married name.

Now, your issue could be that she has changed her last name from that which you know.  In that case, you may be able to get information by accessing marriage records in your state.  Again, these are public record in many states.  You can access them through the Dept. of Vital Records or through the local court, searching for any marriages for your mother.

Also, please don't listen to anyone who tells you that your mother doesn't want you in her life.  You have no idea about that.  My first father waited eagerly for the day that I would make contact.  We have a great relationship since our reunion 7 years ago.  In fact, right before I signed off here, he called me and we were on the phone laughing and talking away.  My first mom passed away before we could reunite.

  2. Go to the adoption center from which you were adopted from they can help you find your birth mom. good luck

    cheers

  3. call the social security..

  4. hi, i found my sister after 19 years, i found a free agency that help trace people, and within a few weeks we'd met. it's called after adoption,  if you type that in goole it will be the first one that comes up on screen, give them a ring, good luck

  5. try unconventional ways too. I just found my mother and my father. and have only been talking to them on the phone  for a week. I found my mother on classmates.com and then entered her married name into myspace. what are the odds that she actually had a page. i found her and do to just pure luck after 30 years my mother and father still had a good friendship so i found him too. You never think it will happen to you but sometimes it does. i never expected it to be that easy after searching for years. my family didn't have any information on me or my amom so it made it impossible for them to find me on their end. but classmates.com brought 5 generations of family together. and it was free. go figure

  6. If you have her name it should not be that hard try these sites.

    www.peoplesearch.com

    www.whitepages.com

  7. I was adopted too. You can look her up at a police station or maybe call social security. They could tell you. You could also try looking her up on line. You never know were she could be....

  8. I used whitepages.com and the counties library geneology website. Took me maybe $4 and two days to get the right info, but i got it.

  9. pay one site and you will find her or talk to a private detective see what you can do from there. try google

  10. I found my son after 36 yrs. using zabasearch.com knowing the name his parents told me they were naming him...only he had moved to a different state...Blessing and good luck!

  11. dude i will be hard and tell you the straight dope, sorry.!

you are setting your self for a disaster she left you , abandoned you, ditched you ,many years ago and she has not found you,!

so chances are she is made peace with you out of her life and so should you.

BTW i am a dumb a** so what the he** do i know.

  12. It's amazing what you can find online. Once you have done a Yahoo people search, checked classmates.com, etc., if you have still found nothing go to the library and check out the Complete Idiot's Guide to Private Investigating, by Steven K. Brown. Full of tips and tricks and sites.

  13. First - add your details to the free registries here

    http://www.isrr.net/

    http://registry.adoption.com/

Check here for search help - and links to free search angels -

    http://www.adoptioncrossroads.org/

And check here for any support - it's the best online forum for adoptees I've found -

    http://www.adultadoptees.org/

With the info you have - it shouldn't be that hard.

Go to the sites I've mentioned - as ask for help.

    Free help is out there.

You should also mention where you are from / born / adopted completed in - etc.

All the very best with your search.

  14. you can trust the sites they will  give you info but i wouldnt pay over 20 dollars or you are getting repted off they will tell you were she lives etc. but just to give you a heads up my family has a history of altimers(spelled wrong sorry) and i can remember that when my grandpa would go visit his mom she wouldnt even remember him and would yell rape because she wasnt for sure why he was there i will amit it is sad you need to think very long and hard if you wont to do this because what if you went to see her and she did domething like that is that going to hurt you! but if it was an open adoption which it sounds like it was the adoption agency will give you that info and if you dont wont to take a chance of that happening the adoption agency will be able to get you pictures etc since it is an open adoption good luck

  15. without knowing from what state you live, you may have to have a lawyer do this(as in many states),and even then you cant get it done..sometimes these agreements are "sealed" meaning the info is closed(including you in some cases)..trust me(Ive been there)this can drive you nuts running around in circles only to wind up in dead end after dead end.....at least ask advice from a lawyer you trust.
