Question:

How can I find my wireless internet encryption key on another computer?

I don't know if this is possible or not, but here's my situation...

The computer in which the router (which is protected by a security encryption, i think its WEP but im not sure) is connected to is not working: it will power on for a few minutes then just shut off.

There is one laptop, that already is connected to this network, that is fully functional.

They just got a new computer, with a new wireless card and such, that I am trying to set up. Without the code, though, it wont connect to that network.

Is there any way to get a hold of that code without using that broken host computer?

(this is for a friend, I wouldve wrote down this code, but they didnt...)

  1. Download WirelessKeyView --- it is a tool to "hack" (harmlessly) the WEP code. Search it up on any search engine, you should find it somewhere.

  2. well there are hacking programs that will break the encryption code for the wireless signal. But if you using home end wireless device then worse comes to worse there should be a reset button on that wireless router that will allow to you reset to default settings for the wireless router.

  3. the code should be stored in the router setup pages.  if you can't find it there you can reset the router and make a new code, and make sure they write it down somewhere this time :P  You'd have to change each computer to that new code though.

  4. Depending on the brand of router you have, each one has it own log in site so that you can access your router from any computer.  Once you log into you routers website you will be able to see all of your settings and retrieve your code.

If I did not get you brand of router listed just go to google and search for your brand routers default page.
