Hi, I'm trying to find articles from June to July 2008 from major news sources (New York Times, CNN, Los Angeles Times, etc.) that mention and/or relate to events/topics from the 18th and 19th century. I need at least five articles (so far I found three, but the professor approved of one) and the due date is sometime next week. I've been looking for the past three weeks and have yet to find any luck. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Please, only serious and detailed responses. Thanks.

  1. If I was in your boat here is what I would do.

First I'd go to http://www.wikipedia.org and browse year by year through the 1700s and 1800s looking for major events.  Also I would think off the top of my head of what some examples could be:

    Civil War

    Spanish American War

    Revolutionary War

    Declaration of Independence

    First Modern Olympics

    Lincoln Assassination

    Napoleonic Wars

Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette

    European Colonization of Africa

Introduction of First Internal Combustion Engine

    etc...

Then I would go to the websites you have listed and use these events as searches on their sites.

YES, this is going to be tedious and time consuming and you're going to get a lot of false positives, all you can do is keep reading.
